Take part!

Join in, be part of the movement for sustainable mobility and help shape the future of transport! Your commitment counts - for research, the community and for a greener future.

Download the app, register and set an example for a smart transport transition!

Your mobility data is not only interesting for you, but also contributes to research. Together, we want to develop sustainable mobility solutions that will initially have a positive impact on the campus in a pilot study and later on the environment.

How can you participate?

  1. Download the App:

Visit the App Store on your smartphone and download the app. Participation starts with a simple click!

  2. Register yourself:

Log in to the app and register (name, e-mail address). To display your personal carbon footprint and your mobility costs, we also ask about the means of transport you usually use.

  3. Agree to the data collection:

Unfortunately, we cannot proceed without your consent to use your smartphone sensor data for mobility tracking. All other consents are optional: We would like to inform you about surveys by e-mail or keep you up to date about new research projects within Track4Science. We need your consent for this. In addition, we need your consent to participate in our competition and to analyse your app usage behaviour in order to continuously improve the app.

  4. Set up your smartphone correctly:

To ensure that the Track4Science app works properly, you need to make certain settings on your smartphone:

    • Grant access to your location to recognise travel routes.
    • Enable access to your physical activity to identify means of transport.
    • Switch off battery optimisation so that the app continues to run in the background. Don't worry about your battery consumption, we've developed the app to save your battery.

The app guides you through the necessary settings. We show you here you can see how it is done.

  5. Take part in surveys:

In order to better understand the mobility data collected and to derive typical mobility patterns, we ask you to complete a short questionnaire (duration: 5 minutes, 10 short questions). Your participation is voluntary and you can cancel the survey at any time without giving a reason. As a thank you for your answers, you will receive seven additional tickets for our participant lottery.

  6. Live your life while the app tracks:

Your contribution requires no extra effort. Just live your life while the app automatically tracks your mobility. Don't worry, your privacy remains protected.

    •

Nutzer Feedback

  • Werner Greimers: „Move freely but reduce the carbon footprint.“
  • Youngwon Cho: „As a participant in the track4science project, I’ve gained fascinating insights into my mobility patterns and carbon footprint. The app makes it easy to contribute data while maintaining full control and privacy. Not only am I helping make transportation systems smarter and more sustainable, but I also have the chance to win great prizes. It’s a rewarding way to support important research and optimize my travel habits simultaneously.“
